A shift is taking place in the heavenly realms. Our Sovereign God is doing a new thing which, by definition, is not something we can predict or imagine.

Annual Report for 2014

The Maranatha Community is a registered charity (no: 327627) and as such we produce an Annual Report to Members with a set of independently examined accounts, and these are submitted to the Charity Commission.

We have now submitted our Annual Report and Accounts for 2014 and these can be viewed here, and you can see our entry on the Charity Commission website here.

The Annual Report is only a brief summary of some of the activities of the community during the year. Our website shows additional aspects of the Maranatha Community, and much of the life of the community takes place at local level throughout the UK and further afield, and does not get reported.

We are seeing the evidence of a mounting spiritual battle across the globe. Light is penetrating darkness. Things concealed for years and even hundreds of years are now being exposed. The powerful movement of God’s Spirit is illuminating the false and revealing truth….. Doors have opened for this Community over many years – doors of healing, doors of reconciliation, doors to speak with those in positions of authority, doors to represent those without a voice.

The March edition of the Maranatha Community Newsletter which is available for you to read on-screen (or print for your convenience) expands this theme and encourages us. There is also news of community initiatives and activity, and information about our Weekends and Retreats for 2015.

Teaching Module – ISLAM

An Invitation:

ISLAM - Who is My Neighbour? - Sat 18th April 10am-1pm, St. John the Evangelist Parish Centre, 128 Bebington Road, New Ferry, Wirral CH62 5BJ

The true nature and teaching of Islam is poorly understood, both in the world and in British churches.  Similarly, few have a personal understanding of what Muslims believe.  As Christians we are commanded by Jesus to love our enemies but we are also urged to resist evil.  How should we respond to those who commit horrific atrocities in the name of Islam?  How are we to pray and work for fully integrated and peaceful local communities in those parts of the UK with an increasing Muslim population?

These and other important questions will be addressed in this special teaching module, led by members of the Maranatha Spearhead Group on Islam.  They will be joined by the UK leader of The Mahabba Network, a prayer and friendship ministry to Muslims.

We welcome you and encourage you to bring friends from your church to join us.

PLEASE REGISTER EARLY WITH THE MARANATHA OFFICE IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND.

VALUES – The characteristics of our British national identity.

What kind of society are we passing on to our children? What are the core values which determine the British way of life? A nationwide debate is emerging.

VALUESToday (27th January 2015) a statement was presented at a meeting in the House of Commons chaired by Professor Lord Alton of Liverpool and convened by Fiona Bruce MP. It will be given to hundreds of people in leadership positions throughout the country. Immediately following the meeting it was presented at 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. David Cameron and simultaneously at Buckingham Palace for Her Majesty the Queen.

The statement boldly affirms, as a matter of historical record, that our values originate from Judaeo-Christian belief, thought and practice. It claims that these values have been recognised worldwide as defining our national identity. There is a widespread concern that these values are endangered.

A copy of the statement is available here.

For further information, questions and interviews contact the Maranatha office – 0161 748 4858 (during office hours).

Background Notes
The Maranatha Community launched the report ‘A Matter of Life or Death – The Struggle for the Soul of Our Nation’ in the House of Commons of 13th January 2015. It sounded the alarm about the decline of our nation. It called for the reaffirmation of Christian values and a broader recognition of the paramount importance of the spiritual dimension of life.

Last year Maranatha published a hundred-page report – ‘Global Persecution – The Price of Faith for Christians Worldwide’ which was presented to the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and was supported by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Mr. Miliband. This will be the subject of a special presentation in the European Parliament later this year.

Two years ago, Maranatha published the challenging report ‘The Big Question – What on Earth are We doing to Our Children?’ following a similar document 17 years previously, which aimed to drive children to the top of the political agenda. Maranatha is currently preparing a major policy document on ‘child abuse’.
